I wanted something to do, so one day I got the "bright idea" - "Hmmm, I'll make signs." Over here, with some of the most expensive rental prices in the world, opening a workshop (even a tiny one) probably wasn't a brilliant decision - oh well, too late now! Anyway, I start with good quality half inch thick Australian MDF (processed wood) and use a CNC Router to carve the text into the board. After the carving is finished, I hand paint the letters with primer and Dulux water based enamel. I reckon, except for the painting, that probably 75% of my work time is in front of the computer - preparing cutting files for the CNC. I must admit, working with fonts has opened up a whole new world for me - I hope, one of these days, to present a few originals of my own.
